Arriving at UCT and all African House

Please print the plan of the all Africa House and venues prior to arrival. It is not that easy to find.  You can book your taxi prior to arrival. price is low 15 to 25 Euros and it is safe. Shuttle are found in the boots just past arrival. Get your rand at the airport at ATM to pay the taxi altough Centurion will accept credit card. Ask your driver to bring you to the ATM and call the all African House. There is also an ATM on Campus.

 

Find below recommended taxi and a trusted tour operator offering good values and reliability for individual or groups,  you can contact them prior to arrival. fees are standard and fixed.

All African House

• The all africa House is situated below the rugby field in the middle campus at K2-K3 in the middle campus map. To go to upper campus you have to walk straight up to the left and take the tunnel. Take the stairs. Turn right.

 

Direction from Airport : The best pickup drop off

area is the back of All Africa House. The Driver

needs to pass the Bremner Building and come

up the ramp into the parking area.

The entrance is on the mountain side of the

building. It is Entrance 2 South. Dial 1 during

normal hours and 32 on Week End.

 

Altough the adress is the entrance is not on that

street but at the end roght of a small dead end

street parallel to

 

The Bus to Robben Island and to the CapePeninsula tour will be at the pick up drop off area

 

We will fetch you the first day at 830 at the All Africa House and at 845 at the info center on campus and walk to the venue.

 

UCT upper and middle Campus maps

• The UCT club where meals will be served is located in the Sport Center building and the entrance is opposite to the Sport Center entrance. It is just down the info center. It is at E11 in the upper campus map and to the left of the rugby field

Accomodations including breakfast are booked at the All African House middle campus and at The Fuller residence, upper campus .  

 

All African House

Fuller Hall

 

Fuller Hall, which houses 229 female students mostly in single rooms, is situated on the upper campus, close to the library, computer labs, Sports Centre and lectures at E5 on the upper campus map. Along with its brother residence, Smuts Hall, Fuller was one of the first buildings to be erected on the Groote Schuur site in 1928, and is a national monument.

CLASSROOM

From All Africa House walk straight up to the left and take the tunnel below the highway , cross the rugby field, follow the dashed blue line on the upper campus map

Follow the blue dashed line to the Jameson Plaza. Turn right to the James Building , the third building on the left. Classroom is to the left in the buiding same floor as the entrance

 

REGISTRATION

A registration fee will be paid to the Nansen Tutu Center to cover for meals during the week , coffee breaks, incidental and social activities.  Drinks at the UCT club and meal during the weekend will not be covered by the registration fee.

 

VISITING LECTURERS

Let us know when you do not eat at UCT (lunch or Braii) or if you are not joining us Saturday or Sunday for the social activities

CLASSROOM

You are expected to bring your notebook or tablet. Do not leave your notebook, hardrive or cable in your luggage. Take it with you in the cabin.

Lunch and Braai will be served at the UCT club, upper campus on week days.

        

SOCIAL  ACTIVITIES

 

Visit of Robben Island  Saturday Morning.

Pick up: 08h00am at UCT, transfer to the V&A Waterfront

09h00: Robben Island Tour (09h00 – 12h30) 13h00: Transfer back to UCT. Feel free to stay in Town and unwind a little bit at the Waterfont. This is lekker.

 

Tour of Cape Town peninsula  all the way to Cape Point  Sunday

Your Guide will collect you from UCT at 08h30 and you will embark on the Cape Peninsula Tour to the picturesque harbour village of Hout Bay. Visit Mariner's Wharf and enjoy an optional trip to Seal Island (this is for own account as it’s weather dependant) and then continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve via the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive. Walk up to the top of Cape Point for breathtaking coastal views. On your way back towards Cape Town enjoy a lunch just outside Simon’s Town (for own account). After lunch visit the Penguin Colony at Boulders. Your Guide will have you back at UCT by late afternoon, 17h30.
